                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 124
 WHEREAS, When they married on July 20, 1953, Doris Faye
 Lewis and George Cornelius Gresham made a lifetime commitment to
 each other, and their mutual trust has been amply rewarded as
 they are now celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, George and Doris first met while they were both
 serving in the United States Army in the early 1950s in
 Heidelberg, Germany; he was a dental laboratory technician and
 she was a medical technician; their wedding took place at the
 Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland, Texas, and the couple
 honeymooned in Galveston; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Gresham had a successful career in the
 army and the couple lived in Paris, France, where their two
 daughters were born, and later in San Antonio, Ethiopia, and
 Maryland; after his retirement, they moved to Huntsville, Texas,
 where they opened the Gresham Dental Laboratory; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Gresham have been very active in the
 Huntsville community; she has served as a volunteer at the
 Huntsville Memorial Hospital for over 45 years, has been a
 literacy volunteer, and is a member of the Raven Dulcimer
 Society; he has volunteered at the Huntsville Public Library, the
 local Safe House women's shelter, and the Veterans' Museum; and
 WHEREAS, Over the years, their devotion to each other has
 only grown stronger as they have experienced the joys and sorrows
 of everyday living; they both participate in programs that
 support American veterans, and they enjoy spending time with
 family and friends and relish their role as grandparents; and
 WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Gresham
 is truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend congratulations
 to Doris and George Gresham on the grand occasion of their 60th
 wedding anniversary; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in
 their lives.
