SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 129 In Memory of Alfonzo Hermosillo WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Alfonzo "Poncho" Hermosillo, who died June 6, 2013, at the age of 69; and WHEREAS, Poncho Hermosillo was born on August 13, 1943; he grew up to become a successful floral designer and businessman and a leader in his community; and WHEREAS, Poncho began his career in floral design in 1961 with Cox's Florists in Mineral Wells; he opened his own establishment in 1997 and quickly gained fame for his outstanding artistic designs and superior customer service; and WHEREAS, He was dedicated to his work, and as an accomplished designer and manager, he mentored and taught countless florists in the region and aided many in starting their own businesses; he was also a longtime leader in the Fort Worth Floral Association; and WHEREAS, In addition, he was an active participant in a variety of other community activities; he coached children's baseball leagues, was a proud member of the Fort Worth Jaycees, and was a member of the Chula Chaser Motorcycle Club of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, He was an exemplary gentleman and was devoted to his wife, Michele, his daughters, Lori and Raechele, and his grandchildren, Gavin and Kaitlyn; and WHEREAS, A talented, warm, and generous person, he gave willingly of his time to others; he had a good sense of humor and an engaging personality, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Alfonzo Hermosillo; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Poncho Hermosillo.
