SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 133 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize The Woodlands High School Highlanders baseball team, which recently won the University Interscholastic League 2013 Class 5A state championship title; and WHEREAS, The Highlanders won their third state championship in baseball by defeating Fort Bend's Dulles High School by a score of 9-5 in a game that saw the Highlanders overcome an early 2-0 deficit; and WHEREAS, These young student-athletes have demonstrated great talent and perseverance over the course of the year, ending the season with a record of 38-4; the Highlanders were ranked third in the nation by Baseball America, and team members can take great pride in their outstanding performance; and WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of head coach Ron Eastman, and with the support of an exemplary coaching staff, the Highlanders have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and WHEREAS, The Woodlands High School and The Woodlands Township are proud of the Highlanders for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend The Woodlands High School Highlanders baseball team on its successful season and extend congratulations to team members on winning the University Interscholastic League Class 5A state championship title; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
