SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 16 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing Bill Arnold, who recently received the 2013 Bayard H. Friedman HERO Award for his outstanding work with students at the Fort Worth Country Day School; and WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is awarded each year to exceptional school employees in North Texas; its namesake, Bayard Friedman, was a civic leader who believed in challenging students and their teachers to consistently raise the bar of excellence in education; and WHEREAS, A proud father, a brave veteran, and a natural educator and leader, Mr. Arnold is an alumnus of Fort Worth Country Day School, who graduated in 1986 with high academic and athletic achievements; he returned to the school as a history teacher, coach, and administrator in 1994; and WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold received his bachelor's degree in history from the Virginia Military Institute, and he earned his master's degree in history from The University of Texas at Arlington; his recent recognition is one of the many honors he has earned during his teaching career; and WHEREAS, An inspiring role model who has consistently earned the admiration of his students, Mr. Arnold is also greatly admired among his peers for his teaching skills and for his devotion to enriching the lives of young people; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Bill Arnold on his recent receipt of the 2013 Bayard H. Friedman HERO Award; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high esteem from the Texas Senate.
