SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Fred Parker, who is being presented with a 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association; and WHEREAS, Mr. Parker has been a leading light in the home building and design business for more than 50 years; with his wife and partner, Glenda, he founded The Fred Parker Company in 1951, and over the years, the family-owned company has cultivated a large and loyal client base; and WHEREAS, Mr. Parker joined the Fort Worth Builders Association in 1964 and soon formed the Remodelers Council, which he also chaired; he has served on the association's board of directors for more than 30 years; and WHEREAS, A talented and meticulous craftsman, Mr. Parker holds many trade credentials, including that of Graduate Master Builder, Certified Graduate Builder and Remodeler, and Certified Aging in Place specialist; he also has been a strong proponent and a dedicated producer of homes that provide easy access for individuals with special needs; and WHEREAS, A former president of the Builder 20 Club, which is sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders, Mr. Parker was also inducted into the Remodeling Big 50 hall of fame; he was named as the 2006 Builder of the Year and the 2005 Remodeler of the Year by the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association; he currently serves on the City of Fort Worth Development Advisory Committee, and he and his company designed and built the Friendly Home to demonstrate that special-needs features could be beautifully integrated into any home; and WHEREAS, This innovative Texan has designed and built many prestigious homes in Tarrant County, and he has committed much of his spare time to the advancement of his trade and to the betterment of his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Fred Parker on receiving the Fort Worth Builders Association Lifetime Achievement Award; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
