SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 55
WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Margaret and
Pete Peterson put great faith and trust in one another, and they
have been amply rewarded, as they are now celebrating their 73rd
wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Margaret Franzen and Pete Peterson were married
on June 20, 1940, in the parsonage of Hutto Methodist Church; the
couple had gone on their first date on August 5, 1934, which is
another day they celebrate each year; though they quickly fell in
love, they decided to delay their marriage until they were more
financially secure, so they waited for six years after their
first date to marry; and
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have continued
to cherish traditional family values; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson worked in the dry cleaning business
before embarking on a successful career with the state health
department; he retired in 1981; Mrs. Peterson retired from the
Texas teacher retirement system; and
WHEREAS, Since they married on Mrs. Peterson's 22nd
birthday, their 73rd anniversary is on Mrs. Peterson's 95th
birthday; it is also the day before Mr. Peterson's 97th birthday;
the long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Peterson is truly an
inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
congratulations to Margaret and Pete Peterson on their 73rd
wedding anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this distinguished couple as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
