SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 56 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize retired United States Army Staff Sergeant John Garza for his service to this country; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Garza is a native of Brownsville and a current resident of McAllen; he was drafted into the army in June of 1968 and served one tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam; he also served in Operation Desert Storm; and WHEREAS, For his distinguished service, this honorable veteran has received the Army Commendation Medal, which was given for his outstanding achievement against hostile forces in the Republic of Vietnam, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Texas Faithful Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and many other decorations; and WHEREAS, A man of steadfast loyalty and bravery, Sergeant Garza served his country with distinction, and his sacrifices on behalf of all Americans are indeed deserving of the gratitude of its citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor retired United States Army Staff Sergeant John Garza for his dedicated service and extend to him sincere best wishes for all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Sergeant Garza as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
