SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63 In Memory of Juanita Pearl Adams Barton WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Juanita Pearl Adams Barton, who died March 16, 2013; and WHEREAS, Juanita Barton moved from Oklahoma to Brownsville with her family at the age of nine; she graduated from El Jardin School; and WHEREAS, She enjoyed a productive and fulfilling 37-year career with the telephone company; she was also active in a wide variety of community organizations, including the Garden Club, the Girl Scouts, the Women's Democratic Society, the Brownsville Art League, Central Christian Church, the Sierra Club, the Southwestern Bell Pioneers, and Friends of the Library; and WHEREAS, She was a unique individual who was known as a healer and a psychic; she was an artist, and she could play the piano by ear and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice; and WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she gave unselfishly to others and was noted for her intelligence, wit, and generous spirit; her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by the many whose lives she touched; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Juanita Pearl Adams Barton; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juanita Barton.
