SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 69
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the 'Dam' LakeFest BBQ Cook-off as a Texas State
Barbecue Championship competition; and
WHEREAS, The 'Dam' LakeFest is sponsored by the Burleson
County Chamber of Commerce and is held every year in the summer;
the cook-off attracts thousands of visitors from across the state
to Welch Park on beautiful Lake Somerville; and
WHEREAS, The cook-off has been sanctioned by the
International Barbeque Cookers Association, and this year's
event takes place July 19 through 20; revenue from the event goes
to chamber programs to foster the county's business community and
local youth programs; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue,
and the 'Dam' LakeFest BBQ Cook-off brings people together to
sample the wares of some of the best chefs in the state; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby proclaim the 'Dam'
LakeFest BBQ Cook-off a Texas State Barbecue Championship
competition and extend best wishes to the sponsors and
participants for a successful and memorable event; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this cook-off.
