SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 80 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Reverend Monsignor John Malinowski on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his ordainment into the priesthood; and WHEREAS, Monsignor Malinowski has served the people of the Bryan-College Station community for 40 years; affectionately known as Father John, he became pastor of Bryan's Saint Anthony Catholic Church in 1973, after having served at parishes in Bellville, Austin, and Bellmead; and WHEREAS, Through the years, he has ministered faithfully to the temporal and spiritual needs of countless people; he retired as pastor of Saint Anthony Catholic Church in 1996 and has since served as full-time chaplain for the Saint Joseph Health System; and WHEREAS, He was given the title of monsignor by His Holiness Pope John Paul II in 1985; inspirational and dedicated to helping others, this beloved priest has administered the sacraments to innumerable people and has generously devoted his time and energy to members of his former congregation, patients in the hospital, and many others in the community; and WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and humility, he has had a profound influence on the lives of people of all faiths, and he is truly deserving of recognition for his dedication and many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Reverend Monsignor John Malinowski on his exceptional service as a parish priest and a hospital chaplain in the Bryan-College Station community and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
