SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 84 In Memory of Dorothy Thomas South WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Dorothy Thomas South, who died May 22, 2013, at the age of 73; and WHEREAS, Dorothy Thomas was born in Pennsylvania to Adele Butswinkas and Russell John Thomas; she attended the University of North Texas and Texas Christian University; and WHEREAS, She married the late Albert Lee South, and the couple was blessed with two daughters and four grandchildren; she was a loving wife and a devoted mother; and WHEREAS, She was dedicated to her work as a homemaker and was noted for her many talents; she was well-versed in the English, Latin, and German languages, and she enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others; and WHEREAS, She was an exemplary lady who was respected in the community for her accomplishments, and she was a generous, kindhearted person who touched the lives of many; and WHEREAS, Dorothy was a devout Christian, and her courage and positive attitude were inspirational to others; she was beloved by her family and friends, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Dorothy Thomas South; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy Thomas South.
