SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 98 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Rabbi Dov Mandel for 10 years of exceptional service as leader of the Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Worth and Tarrant County; and WHEREAS, Chabad is an acronym for the Hebrew words wisdom, understanding, and knowledge; the Chabad Lubavitch movement is a Hasidic branch of Orthodox Judaism whose followers emphasize mind and emotion and focus on God in daily life; and WHEREAS, Rabbi Mandel came to Fort Worth in 2002 to lead one of 3,600 Chabad centers worldwide; through the years, he has sought to serve as a bridge between the Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform branches of Judaism and to help Jews make their faith a central part of their daily lives; and WHEREAS, Rabbi Mandel is in much demand throughout the area as a speaker, and he leads classes at the center on such topics as implementing lasting change and bridging the gap between faith and reason; and WHEREAS, In addition to his work at Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Rabbi Mandel has brought a greater understanding of Judaism to people of all faiths in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and he is truly deserving of recognition for his many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Rabbi Dov Mandel for his outstanding contributions to the community and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
