 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Ruben Saenz of Rio Grande City retired as
 administrator of South Texas College Starr County Campus in January
 2013, concluding an outstanding career in education that spanned
 more than half a century; and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Pan American University and Texas A&I
 University, Mr. Saenz holds a bachelor's degree in health and
 physical education and a master's degree in school administration;
 he worked as a teacher in the Rio Grande City Consolidated
 Independent School District for a decade before going on to serve as
 a principal for more than 20 years, including a long tenure at Rio
 Grande City High School; he was named superintendent of the
 district in the early 1990s, gaining valuable experience that he
 brought to his position as STC Starr County Campus administrator in
 1996; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Saenz contributed to his profession in numerous
 ways, most recently as chair of the Texas Retired Teachers
 Association District 1 Legislative Committee; moreover, he has been
 affiliated with the Texas Association of School Boards, the
 National Association of School Administrators, and the Texas
 Association of Secondary School Principals, which he served as
 president during the 1982-1983 academic year; and
 WHEREAS, Dedicated to the betterment of his community as
 well, this esteemed gentleman has been a member of the local Lions
 Club for 53 years; he has also distinguished himself as a member and
 a past worshipful master of Hope Lodge No. 471 and as chair of the
 Starr County Fair Association Scholarship Committee; and
 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Saenz enjoys the love
 and support of his wife, Olga, a retired teacher, and their sons,
 Ruben and Ricardo, and his life is further enriched by seven
 grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Ruben Saenz demonstrated an exceptional commitment
 to South Texas College and Rio Grande City CISD, and his
 accomplishments have benefited generations of area Texans; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Ruben Saenz on
 his retirement as administrator of South Texas College Starr County
 Campus and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Saenz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
