 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The 80th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
 cause for celebration, and Floyd Hopson Joseph of Houston is
 reaching that impressive milestone on September 26, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Floyd Joseph was born in Houston in 1933 to Hopson
 Joseph and Myrtle Warren, and he was educated at Blackshear
 Elementary and Jack Yates High School; and
 WHEREAS, While still a teenager, Mr. Joseph was employed as a
 caddy at the Hermann Park Golf Course, and he went on to work as a
 cook at Kaphan's Restaurant and as a fabricator at the Redi-Cut
 Company; he then spent two decades with Monarch Paper, and after
 retiring from that job, he took a part-time position at Sears; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Joseph and his wife, the former Gloria Warner,
 have shared a rewarding marriage that has spanned 61 years; they
 take pride in a fine family that includes two children, Marilyn and
 Toney, as well as five grandchildren, Steve, Terry, Anthony,
 Clifton, and Chris, and three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Morgan,
 and Monet; and
 WHEREAS, This generous individual is renowned for the able
 assistance he provides to the members of his family, including his
 outstanding work as an advisor, babysitter, banker, cook,
 chauffeur, yardman, mechanic, delivery person, repairer of broken
 toys and vases, and finder of lost items; when he has a spare moment
 for relaxation, he enjoys watching television, especially
 Westerns, golf matches, and other sporting events; and
 WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith and a role model to
 many, Floyd Joseph has enriched the lives of all those fortunate
 enough to know him, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for
 eight decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Floyd Hopson
 Joseph on his 80th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for continued happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Joseph as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
