H.R. No. 134 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the passing of Billy Ray Chisum of Leakey on July 10, 2013, at the age of 55; and WHEREAS, The son of Joseph and Jo Dell Chisum, Billy Ray Chisum was born in Uvalde on August 16, 1957; he graduated from Leakey High School and went on to study at Southwest Texas Junior College before earning his bachelor's degree from Texas State University; and WHEREAS, Mr. Chisum worked at the Chisum Construction Company and the Auto Part Shop and was a director of Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, where he further served as vice president of the board of directors from 1982 to 2005; and WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Chisum worked in behalf of his fellow residents during his 22-year term as Real County justice of the peace; he was also a valued member of the Frio Canyon Chamber of Commerce and the Frio Canyon Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, Billy Ray Chisum was a loving father and son whose kindness touched many lives; though he is deeply missed, he will long be remembered with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Billy Ray Chisum and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his sons, Billy and Banks Chisum, and their mother, Mollie Chisum; to his brother, Larry Joe Chisum, and his wife, Patricia; to his uncles, Billy Joe Brice and his wife, Linda, and Carl Chisum; to his aunts, Jo Ann Fisher and Libby Suttle; to his nephews, Kevin and Scott Chisum; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Billy Ray Chisum.
