H.R. No. 141 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Air Tractor, Inc., of Olney is celebrating the delivery of its 3,000th Air Tractor agricultural aircraft on August 7, 2013, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to celebrate the history and achievements of this innovative company and its signature product; and WHEREAS, Air Tractor founder Leland Snow began designing his first crop-duster airplane at the age of 21, the year before his 1952 graduation from Texas A&M University; he went on to found the Snow Aeronautical Company, which in 1965 was sold to Rockwell-Standard; Mr. Snow served as a vice president with the latter firm until starting Air Tractor, Inc., in 1972; and WHEREAS, The firm's first model was the AT-301 crop duster, and over the years that plane and subsequent designs have made Air Tractor one of the top agricultural aircraft brands in the world; the company's planes have also been adapted for use in firefighting and the eradication of narcotic crops and have served as light gunships in military applications; through the years, Air Tractors have been flown by appreciative pilots in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Eastern Europe, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea; and WHEREAS, The company shipped its 1,100th Air Tractor in 1993 and its 2,000th aircraft in 2004; since its first test flight in 1990, the company's latest model, the AT-802, has been delivered to 500 satisfied customers, and in 2013 the company is celebrating the shipment of its 3,000th aircraft; and WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Air Tractor, Inc., has been a leading producer of safe, reliable, and effective agricultural aircraft, and this Texas-based enterprise is indeed deserving of recognition as it marks this impressive production milestone; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Air Tractor, Inc., of Olney on the shipment of its 3,000th aircraft and extend to the company's officers and employees sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Air Tractor, Inc., as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
