 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at
 the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant William Robert Moody of Burleson,
 who died in Afghanistan on June 18, 2013, at the age of 30; and
 WHEREAS, Assigned to the 68th Combat Sustainment Support
 Battalion, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division out of
 Fort Carson, Colorado, Sergeant Moody was one of four soldiers
 killed during a rocket attack on Bagram Air Force Base; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Moody's many decorations include the
 Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal,
 the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Combat
 Action Ribbon, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense
 Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star,
 the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, and the Global War on
 Terrorism Service Medal; and
 WHEREAS, Born to Jeanette Stanley and William Moody in
 Belleville, Illinois, on January 25, 1983, William Moody graduated
 from Burleson High School in 2002; answering his nation's call to
 duty, he joined the U.S. Marines in 2003, served two tours of duty
 in Iraq, and received an honorable discharge in 2007; the following
 year, Sergeant Moody joined the U.S. Army, and at the time of his
 death, he was serving his third tour in Afghanistan; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and
 support of his wife, Lacy, whom he married in 2008, and he was a
 devoted father to his three children, Alaysia, Korben, and Graydon;
 among his friends, he was known for his enthusiasm and warm smile,
 and they looked to him for encouragement when they were down; and
 WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
 women whose love for country inspires them to take up military
 service, yet the tragic death of this brave soldier is a sobering
 reminder of the cost of war; Sergeant William Moody embodied the
 highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and
 loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
 Sergeant William Robert Moody and extend sincere condolences to the
 members of his family: to his wife, Lacy Brooke Moody; to his
 daughter, Alaysia Bre'an; to his sons, Korben Parker and Graydon
 William; to his mother, Jeanette Stanley; to his father and
 stepmother, William and Wendy Moody; to his sisters, Heather
 Avelar, Ivory Moody, and Bailey Moody; to his brother, Rion Moody;
 and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of William
 R. Moody.
