H.R. No. 60 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Members of the Borger High School varsity honors choir performed exceptionally well in the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest held in Austin May 25 through 27, 2013; and WHEREAS, In this prestigious competition, sponsored by the University Interscholastic League, Soozee Kim and Erik Powell each received a "superior" rating and gold medal; Bri Fernandez, Sam Crittenden, Michelle Ludiker, and Becca Green were named silver medalists; moreover, Maegan Newton and Blaine Hill earned a rating of "good"; and WHEREAS, These talented students were skillfully guided by Johnny Miller, director of choral arts for the Borger Independent School District; in addition, they benefited from the outstanding contributions of vocal coach Larissa Cunningham and accompanist Rene Brain; and WHEREAS, Through their talent and dedication in pursuit of their goals, the members of the Borger High School choir achieved exceptional results in UIL competition, and they may indeed take pride in their well-deserved recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the members of the Borger High School varsity honors choir on their achievements in the 2013 Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest and extend to the choir and the choral faculty sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the choir as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
