H.R. No. 63 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, T. R. Keck and Sons, a venerable hardware store and lumberyard in Cotulla, is celebrating the 120th anniversary of its founding in July 2013; and WHEREAS, Long a centerpiece of the local community, T. R. Keck and Sons traces its history to 1893, when brothers Thomas Randall Keck and Edgar A. Keck purchased a lumberyard and operated it under the name Keck Brothers; Edgar Keck sold his interest to his brother a decade later, and the enterprise took on its current name after Thomas Keck brought two of his children into the operation; over the years, the business has specialized in offering a complete line of lumber, hardware, and ranch supplies; and WHEREAS, T. R. Keck and Sons has been recognized by the Texas Historical Commission with the Texas Treasure Business Award, which honors firms that have provided employment opportunities and contributed to the vitality of the state's economy for 50 years or more; and WHEREAS, Over the span of more than a century, T. R. Keck and Sons has been an essential part of daily life for the residents of the Cotulla area, and on the occasion of this significant milestone, it is indeed fitting to acknowledge its rich legacy and many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 120th anniversary of the founding of T. R. Keck and Sons and that all those associated with this noteworthy Texas enterprise be congratulated on its receipt of the Texas Treasure Business Award; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for T.
