H.R. No. 73 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The wisdom and experience of centenarians are a source of enduring inspiration, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor Euodias Harris for joining this elite group; and WHEREAS, Born in Thrall on August 21, 1913, Mrs. Harris exchanged vows with John L. Harris on September 24, 1931, in McGregor; they subsequently moved to Marshall and raised three children, Barbara Atikinson, Norma Noah, and John Harris; today, she is the beloved matriarch of a fine family that has grown to include 7 grandchildren, Ruth, Jean, David, Shelly, Scott, Quentin, and Gerard, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan began teaching school during World War II, and her career choice influenced her children as they started their own professional lives; a gracious hostess, she welcomed students from Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi to her home for gatherings on numerous occasions, and she takes pride in cooking, canning, and sewing projects; and WHEREAS, Blessed with the affection of a host of loved ones, Mrs. Harris has gracefully reached the century mark and continues to enrich the lives of all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Euodias Harris on her 100th birthday and extend to her warmest wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Harris as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
