H.R. No. 74 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and talents to benefit the larger community make the world a better place through their actions; and WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the inspiring faith and leadership of James Turner, who passed away on June 2, 2012; and WHEREAS, James Turner served faithfully for 46 years as the Founder, Pastor, and Superintendent of Turners Chapel Church of God in Christ, and he leaves behind a legacy of good works that will long resonate in the community; and WHEREAS, Although Superintendent Turner is deeply missed, he will be forever remembered with great admiration and affection by all those who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Turner and extend sincere sympathy to his wife, Sharon Ford-Turner; his seven biological children; fourteen step children; and the Turners Chapel Church Family; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the family of Superintendent James Turner.
