H.R. No. 91 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Friends, neighbors, and grateful members of the public are gathering at an event in Kingwood on August 3, 2013, to honor the courage and dedication of Robert Yarbrough of the Houston Fire Department; and WHEREAS, On May 31, 2013, Mr. Yarbrough was among a group of Houston firefighters who responded to a fire at a restaurant and hotel; fearing that people were trapped inside, the firefighters were searching inside the structure when the roof collapsed; in the worst catastrophe in the history of the department, four firefighters were killed, and Mr. Yarbrough and many other firefighters were injured; and WHEREAS, A resident of Kingwood, Robert Yarbrough has been a proud member of the Houston Fire Department for 31 years; much of his experience has been as an emergency medical service technician, and for the past 17 years, he has served with distinction on the rescue squad at HFD Fire Station 42; and WHEREAS, Mr. Yarbrough is supported in his recovery by a loving family that includes his wife, Amy, his children and stepchildren, Chase, Ariel, Taryn, Brandon, and Austin, and his brothers and sisters, Duncan, Dennis, Daniel, Glenda, and Kathryn; and WHEREAS, Every day, brave firefighters such as Robert Yarbrough risk injury and death to protect the safety and property of their fellow citizens, and it is truly a privilege to honor this dedicated professional for his heroism and sacrifice; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Robert Yarbrough for his years of dedicated service to the Houston Fire Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Yarbrough as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
