SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Yolanda N. Arellano on the occasion of her retirement; and WHEREAS, Yolanda Arellano began her professional career at Waterman Broadcasting, where she rose to the position of community relations and public affairs director; she established her own public relations firm, Yolanda Arellano and Associates, and she has served as executive director of the San Antonio Restaurant Association since 1991; and WHEREAS, This distinguished civic leader has been active in a wide variety of community organizations through the years; she has served as president of the San Antonio Festival and the San Antonio Muscular Dystrophy Association, and her work as a director with the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau has played an important role in enhancing tourism in the city; and WHEREAS, She has served on the Mayor's Commission on the Status of Women and has chaired the Mexican American Unity Council; among the many awards she has received are La Prensa Foundation's Latina Women in Action Award, the Mateo Camargo Humanitarian Award, and the Ford Hispanic Salute for Literacy in Education; she has been inducted into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, An exemplary businesswoman and civic leader, she is respected and admired by her colleagues, and she has had a profound impact on those with whom she has worked; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Yolanda N. Arellano on her many achievements and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
