                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 105
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Executive Chief Deputy Robert Allen Knowles on his
 distinguished career in law enforcement and his most recent
 successful facilities certification; and
 WHEREAS, Robert Knowles began his career in 1974 serving
 with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office; his management skills
 and steadfast work ethic were quickly recognized, and he was
 promoted to captain in 1978; and
 WHEREAS, Within a year of becoming captain, this talented
 officer was able to raise the standards of county jail
 facilities under his command to meet state requirements; this
 year marks the 30th consecutive year that all facilities under
 his jurisdiction have been certified as being in compliance
 with state standards; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his long career, Chief Deputy
 Knowles has overseen the design, development, and implementation
 of over 9,000 jail beds in eight different county facilities;
 his 30th year of successful facilities certification is a
 milestone that testifies to his dedication and skill as a jail
 administrator; and
 WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Chief Deputy Knowles has
 been recognized for expertise in his field on both state and
 national levels; in 1985, he earned national recognition and
 received the Howard B. Gill Award from the American Jail
 Association as the Correctional Administrator of the Year; and
 WHEREAS, Nearly 40 years of outstanding service have
 earned this distinguished officer the respect and admiration of
 his peers; it is truly fitting that he be recognized for his
 notable contributions to his field; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Executive Chief
 Deputy Robert Allen Knowles on his years of outstanding service and
 congratulate him on his most recent success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
