                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19
 In Memory
 of
 Jean Webb
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Jean Webb, who died
 June 18, 2013, at the age of 78; and
 WHEREAS, Jean Webb was born February 11, 1935, in Port
 Arthur, to Dorothy and H. A. Hefner; she was an honors graduate of
 Graham High School and earned bachelor's and master's degrees
 from North Texas State University; and
 WHEREAS, She married Lieutenant Billy Gean Webb, a United
 States Marine Corps pilot, in 1958; the couple lived in different
 locales in California and Texas until 1965, when they settled in
 Fort Worth; they were blessed with four daughters and with
 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Webb enjoyed a long and productive career as
 an educator; she taught for 35 years at Fort Worth Country Day
 School, where her ability to motivate her students instilled in
 them an appreciation of challenge and a lifelong love of
 learning; and
 WHEREAS, After her retirement from teaching, she remained
 active at the school, directing its alumni efforts for many years
 and serving as chair of the school's archives; she played an
 important role in planning the school's 50th anniversary
 celebration, and the Jean Webb Alumni Service Award was
 established in her honor; and
 WHEREAS, She was active in a number of professional and civic
 organizations, including the Iota Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma,
 Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library, and the Casa MaƱana Board
 of Directors; a devout Christian who practiced her faith in her
 daily life, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, where
 she held numerous leadership positions; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she
 gave generously to others, and her wisdom, her charismatic
 personality, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the
 fullest will not be forgotten; and
 WHEREAS, She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and
 grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
 treasured forever by her family and countless friends; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences
 to the bereaved family of Jean Webb; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Jean Webb.
