                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 24
 In Memory
 of
 Lance McLean
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Sergeant Lance McLean of the Hood County
 Sheriff's Office, who died in the line of duty June 29, 2013, at
 the age of 38; and
 WHEREAS, Lance Allen McLean was born April 1, 1975, in
 Biloxi, Mississippi, to Ricky and Joyce McLean; he married the
 love of his life, Katy Cryer, in 2002, and the couple was blessed
 with two children, Quinton Allen and Abigail Marie; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant McLean began his distinguished career in
 law enforcement in 2004 as a corrections officer with the
 Hamilton County Sheriff's Office; he earned his peace officer's
 license in 2006 and remained in Hamilton County until 2008, when
 he joined the Hood County Sheriff's Office, where he rose quickly
 through the ranks and became a sergeant; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his regular duties as a patrol
 sergeant, he was a valued member of the county's special weapons
 and tactics team and proudly served on the honor guard; as an
 instructor and field training officer, he emphasized the
 importance of mutual support by personally demonstrating that he
 always had the back of his fellow officers; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant McLean was well known among his
 colleagues for his professionalism, his sense of humor, and his
 passion for helping others; he was an avid outdoorsman, golfer,
 and Texas Rangers fan, and he cherished the time he was able to
 spend with his large and loving extended family; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
 gave unselfishly to others, and his integrity, his commitment to
 public service, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the
 fullest will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
 share in his life; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves
 behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
 countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
 condolences to the bereaved family of Sergeant Lance McLean; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Sergeant Lance McLean.
