SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41
In Memory
of
Casey Lee Whitley Damen
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Casey Lee Whitley Damen, who died July
9, 2013, at the age of 34; and
WHEREAS, Casey Lee Whitley Damen was born August 12, 1978,
in Weslaco, to David and Bonnie Whitley; she graduated with a
degree in business from Southwestern University in Georgetown,
where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and where she
made many lifelong friends; and
WHEREAS, She married Jason Damen on October 12, 2002;
together, they explored the joys of travel, journeying to such
destinations as the Florida Keys, British Columbia, Belize, and
all corners of her beloved home state; she was an avid
outdoorswoman who took great pleasure in fly fishing and golf;
and
WHEREAS, Casey enjoyed a productive and fulfilling career
as a forensic analyst with the Public Integrity Unit of the
Travis County District Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, She battled the cancer that took her life with
courage, tenacity, and an enduring optimism that served as a
constant inspiration to all those who knew her; she joined the
Pink Ribbon Cowgirls, where she was a source of strength to other
women facing the same disease; and
WHEREAS, A woman of warmth, kindness, and determination,
she gave unselfishly to others; she was vivacious and
enthusiastic, with a lively sense of humor, and she lived each
day to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter,
sister, and aunt, and she leaves behind memories that will be
cherished forever by her family and her many friends; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Casey Lee Whitley Damen;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Casey Lee Whitley Damen.
