SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75 In Memory of James William Dyer WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of James William Dyer, who died June 29, 2013, at the age of 60; and WHEREAS, J. W. Dyer was a native of the Rio Grande Valley and a graduate of Texas A&M University; he served the nation with distinction as a first lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers; and WHEREAS, After earning a degree from The University of Texas School of Law, he established his own firm, Dyer and Associates; he practiced law in the Rio Grande Valley for more than 25 years and drew on his agricultural and engineering background to represent numerous major water supply corporations; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dyer was an avid, longtime participant in the Boy Scouts of America; he was an Eagle Scout and went on to serve as a mentor to many young men as a Scoutmaster; among the many Scouting honors he received were the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of James William Dyer; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James William Dyer.
