SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 76 In Memory of David Haddon Hockema WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of David Haddon Hockema, who died July 1, 2013, at the age of 65; and WHEREAS, David Hockema was born November 18, 1947, and grew up in Kilgore; he completed a bachelor's degree in political science on the prestigious Plan II program at The University of Texas and went on to earn a doctor of jurisprudence degree at The University of Texas School of Law in 1973; and WHEREAS, A distinguished attorney, Mr. Hockema loved his profession and was proud to tell big-city lawyers that he was from Hidalgo County; he was a member of the International Trial Lawyer's Academy and the American Board of Trial Advocates, and he was named a Texas Super Lawyer for more than 10 consecutive years; and WHEREAS, A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water with friends; he and his wife, Nora, were avid travelers and spent much of their time in the last eight years touring Europe and South America; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hockema was admired by his family and friends, and he will long be remembered for his generous spirit and many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of David Hockema and extend sincere condolences to his bereaved family; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David Haddon Hockema.
