SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 81 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Mark Reynolds, who is retiring from the practice of dentistry after 34 fulfilling years in the field; and WHEREAS, Dr. Reynolds grew up in Vernon, Texas, and graduated from Vernon High School in 1971; after completing the dentistry program at The University of Texas Dental School in Houston, he returned to his hometown to open a family dental practice in 1979; and WHEREAS, He continued his practice until joining the staff of North Texas State Hospital; during his time at the hospital Dr. Reynolds earned a reputation as a caring and conscientious care provider for mental health patients from across the state; and WHEREAS, While maintaining his successful practice, he remained an active leader in his community; in addition to many other civic contributions, he has served as a regent at Vernon College, as an active member and president of the Vernon Rotary Club, and, most recently, as a member of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee; he also served as the radio announcer for the Vernon Lions football team for 22 years; and WHEREAS, Friends of this distinguished gentleman know him as an enthusiastic and talented classic rock and roll musician and an avid music historian; they are gathering in Vernon on July 27 to celebrate his retirement with a day of music and fellowship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Dr. Mark Reynolds on his career of service as a dentist and his civic leadership, congratulate him on his retirement, and extend to him best wishes for continued success in the years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
