SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 8
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the North Side High School Mariachi Espuelas de Plata
of Fort Worth, which has been chosen to represent North Texas at
the 2013 Mexican American School Board Members Association State
Mariachi Festival Finals; and
WHEREAS, 2013 marks the third consecutive year that this
exemplary group has been selected to appear at this prestigious
competition; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, Mariachi Espuelas de Plata has
performed at venues across the country and around the world; in
2013 alone, the members of this outstanding group have performed
at such premier events as the Festival of International Books and
Arts in the Rio Grande Valley and the Mariachi Spectacular de
Albuquerque, where they recently won first place in the high
school category of competition; and
WHEREAS, North Side High School and the people of Fort
Worth are proud of the Mariachi Espuelas de Plata for their
exemplary skills and their commitment to the mariachi art form;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the members of
the North Side High School Mariachi Espuelas de Plata on their
hard work and dedication and extend to them best wishes for
continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the group as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
