(Relating to the designation of certain river or stream segments as being of unique ecological value.), As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would designate specific stream segments of five rivers in Regional Water Planning Area L as having unique ecological value. The status of unique ecological value means that a state agency or any political subdivision of the state may not finance the actual construction of a reservoir in the designated segment. According to Texas Water Development Board, the 2012 State Water Plan recommends this designation for these stream segments. The bill would take effect September 1, 2015. Local Government Impact The Nueces River Authority reported no fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
