55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the approval of law enforcement training materials by
88 the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 1701.1525 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 1701.1525. REVIEW OF TRAINING MATERIALS. The
1313 commission shall establish procedures for the review and approval
1414 of course materials or training manuals for use by a school or an
1515 education and training program or course provider.
1616 SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is
1717 amended by adding Section 1701.261 to read as follows:
1818 Sec. 1701.261. TRAINING MATERIAL APPROVAL REQUIRED. A
1919 school or a provider of education and training programs or courses
2020 under this chapter, including a continuing education program, may
2121 only use course materials or training manuals that have been
2222 approved by the commission for use in the program or course.
2323 SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2015, the Texas
2424 Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt procedures to comply with
2525 Section 1701.1525, Occupations Code, as added by this Act.
2626 SECTION 4. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this
2727 section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
2828 (b) Section 1701.261, Occupations Code, as added by this
2929 Act, takes effect January 1, 2016.
