| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 1701.1525 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 1701.1525. REVIEW OF TRAINING MATERIALS. The |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | commission shall establish procedures for the review and approval |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of course materials or training manuals for use by a school or an |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | education and training program or course provider. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | amended by adding Section 1701.261 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Sec. 1701.261. TRAINING MATERIAL APPROVAL REQUIRED. A |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | school or a provider of education and training programs or courses |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | under this chapter, including a continuing education program, may |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | only use course materials or training manuals that have been |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | approved by the commission for use in the program or course. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. Not later than December 1, 2015, the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Commission on Law Enforcement shall adopt procedures to comply with |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Section 1701.1525, Occupations Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 4. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (b) Section 1701.261, Occupations Code, as added by this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act, takes effect January 1, 2016. |
