| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 41, Education Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 41.0932 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 41.0932. WINDSTORM AND HAIL INSURANCE COSTS. (a) This | |
| 14 | 14 | section applies only to a school district all or part of which is | |
| 15 | 15 | located in the seacoast territory, as defined by Section 2210.003, | |
| 16 | 16 | Insurance Code. | |
| 17 | 17 | (b) Subject to Subsection (c), the total amount required to | |
| 18 | 18 | be paid by a district for attendance credits under Section 41.093 | |
| 19 | 19 | for a school year is reduced by an amount equal to the district's | |
| 20 | 20 | cost for that school year of purchasing a separate insurance policy | |
| 21 | 21 | through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association or otherwise for | |
| 22 | 22 | loss to property caused by windstorm or hail. | |
| 23 | 23 | (c) To receive a reduction under this section, a district | |
| 24 | 24 | must provide the commissioner with acceptable documentation of the | |
| 25 | 25 | district's cost of purchasing insurance described by Subsection | |
| 26 | 26 | (b). | |
| 27 | 27 | (d) The commissioner shall adopt rules necessary to | |
| 28 | 28 | implement this section. | |
| 29 | 29 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
