The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to authorize magistrates to prohibit defendants from communicating in any matter with the victim or a member of the victim's family or household, except through the party's attorney or a court-appointed person. Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.
