| 13 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Section 521.001(a)(8-a), Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 15 | 9 | | is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | (8-a) "State judge" means: |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | (A) the judge of an appellate court, a district |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | court, [or] a county court at law, or a statutory probate court of |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | this state; or |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | (B) an associate judge appointed under Chapter |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | 201, Family Code, Chapter 54A, Government Code, or Chapter 574, |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | Health and Safety Code. |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
