| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 22, Business Organizations |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 22.236 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 22.236. INTEGRATED AUXILIARIES OF CHURCHES. (a) In |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | this section, "integrated auxiliary of a church" means an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | organization described by Section 501(c)(3), Internal Revenue |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Code, that: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) is affiliated with a church or a convention or |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | association of churches; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (2) is not a church or a convention or association of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | churches; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (3) either: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (A) receives financial support primarily from |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | internal church sources instead of from public or governmental |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | sources; or |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (B) is a men's or women's organization, a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | seminary, a mission society, or a youth group. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (b) The board of directors of a corporation that is a church |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | must give prior approval for the creation of any integrated |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | auxiliary of the church. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies only to an integrated auxiliary |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of a church created on or after September 1, 2015. An integrated |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | auxiliary created before the effective date of this Act is governed |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | by the law in effect immediately before the effective date of this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
