| 7 | 7 | | relating to a waiver of certain state park fees for United States |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 13.018(a), Parks and Wildlife Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) The following people may apply to the department for a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | state parklands passport: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) a resident of this state who is 65 years old or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | over who has resided in the state for six consecutive months |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | preceding the date of application for a parklands passport, a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | member of the United States armed forces on active duty who is 65 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | years old or over, or any other individual in a category that the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | commission by rule designates as a resident of this state who is 65 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | years old or over; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) a veteran of the armed services of the United |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | States [who, as a result of military service, has a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | service-connected disability, as defined by the Veterans' |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Administration, consisting of the loss of the use of a lower |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | extremity or of a 60 percent disability rating and who is receiving |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | compensation from the United States because of the disability]; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (3) an individual who has a physical or mental |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | activities of the individual. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
