66 AN ACT
77 relating to a waiver of certain state park fees for United States
88 veterans.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 13.018(a), Parks and Wildlife Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) The following people may apply to the department for a
1313 state parklands passport:
1414 (1) a resident of this state who is 65 years old or
1515 over who has resided in the state for six consecutive months
1616 preceding the date of application for a parklands passport, a
1717 member of the United States armed forces on active duty who is 65
1818 years old or over, or any other individual in a category that the
1919 commission by rule designates as a resident of this state who is 65
2020 years old or over;
2121 (2) a veteran of the armed services of the United
2222 States [who, as a result of military service, has a
2323 service-connected disability, as defined by the Veterans'
2424 Administration, consisting of the loss of the use of a lower
2525 extremity or of a 60 percent disability rating and who is receiving
2626 compensation from the United States because of the disability]; and
2727 (3) an individual who has a physical or mental
2828 impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life
2929 activities of the individual.
3030 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3131 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3232 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3333 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3434 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
