66 AN ACT
77 relating to replacing "Confederate Heroes Day" with "Civil War
88 Remembrance Day" as a state holiday.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 662.003(b), Government Code, is amended
1111 to read as follows:
1212 (b) A state holiday includes only the following days:
1313 (1) [the 19th day of January, "Confederate Heroes
1414 Day," in honor of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and other
1515 Confederate heroes;
1616 [(2)] the second day of March, "Texas Independence
1717 Day";
1818 (2) [(3)] the 21st day of April, "San Jacinto Day";
1919 (3) the second Monday in May, "Civil War Remembrance
2020 Day," in honor of the men and women who served during the Civil War;
2121 (4) the 19th day of June, "Emancipation Day in Texas,"
2222 in honor of the emancipation of the slaves in Texas in 1865;
2323 (5) the 27th day of August, "Lyndon Baines Johnson
2424 Day," in observance of the birthday of Lyndon Baines Johnson;
2525 (6) the Friday after Thanksgiving Day;
2626 (7) the 24th day of December; and
2727 (8) the 26th day of December.
2828 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
