55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the authority of the Texas Facilities Commission to
88 manage a construction project at the site of the G. J. Sutton State
99 Office Complex in Bexar County.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Facilities Commission is
1212 authorized to manage a construction project for a state office
1313 building and associated parking facilities for state use at a cost
1414 not to exceed $162,446,464 to be located on state-owned property in
1515 Bexar County at the site of the existing G. J. Sutton State Office
1616 Complex.
1717 (b) The project for the state office building and associated
1818 parking facilities is approved for financing in accordance with
1919 Section 1232.108, Government Code, and bonds may be issued to fund
2020 the construction of the building and facilities in accordance with
2121 Section 1232.102, Government Code.
2222 (c) The state office building shall be known as the G. J.
2323 Sutton Building and the property on the land on which the building
2424 is located shall be known as the G. J. Sutton State Office Complex.
2525 (d) The project for the state office building and associated
2626 parking facilities shall be constructed in compliance with Chapter
2727 2166, Government Code.
2828 SECTION 2. In managing and implementing the project
2929 authorized under Section 1 of this Act, the Texas Facilities
3030 Commission in collaboration with the Texas Historical Commission
3131 shall determine any opportunities for and the feasibility of
3232 preserving the existing status of the G. J. Sutton Building as a
3333 contributing building for the designation of the area as a historic
3434 district of the National Register of Historic Places.
3535 SECTION 3. The construction of a state office building and
3636 associated parking facilities for state use described by this Act
3737 is subject to the specific appropriation of funds to the Texas
3838 Facilities Commission for that purpose by a general appropriations
3939 act of the 84th Legislature.
4040 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4141 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4242 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4343 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4444 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
