| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Sections 34.001(a) and (c), Election Code, are |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (a) The secretary of state may appoint one or more state |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | inspectors for an election. The appointment is, until the day after |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | election day, confidential and not available for public inspection. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (c) A request under Subsection (b) must be received by the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | secretary of state not later than the fourth regular business day |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | before the date of the election for which the inspectors are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | requested. The request is, until the day after election day, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | confidential and not available for public inspection [until the day |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | after election day]. |

| 21 | 21 | | SECTION 2. Chapter 34, Election Code, is amended by adding |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Section 34.006 to read as follows: |

| 23 | 23 | | Sec. 34.006. PLACES INSPECTED CONFIDENTIAL. Information |

| 24 | 24 | | held by the secretary of state that indicates the place a state |

| 25 | 25 | | inspector has been appointed to inspect is, during the period |

| 26 | 26 | | beginning on the day the state inspector is appointed and ending on |
|---|

|---|

| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
