| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 654, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 654.0375 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 654.0375. OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY CODE IDENTIFICATION; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | REPORT. (a) In this section, "occupational specialty code" means a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | code, classification, designator, or rating used by a branch of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | armed forces of the United States to identify a specific job. The |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | term includes a military occupational specialty code, an air force |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | specialty code, a navy enlisted classification system, or a similar |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | coding or classification system. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) Each state fiscal biennium the classification officer |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | shall research and identify the applicable occupational specialty |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | codes that correspond to each position contained in the state's |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | position classification plan. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) The classification officer shall report the findings |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | under Subsection (b) in the manner provided by Section |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 654.037(a)(2). |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (d) The classification officer may request the assistance |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of the Texas Veterans Commission in performing a duty required |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | under this section. The Texas Veterans Commission shall provide |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the requested assistance. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 656, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | amended by adding Section 656.002 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Sec. 656.002. OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY CODES ON NOTICES OF |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | EMPLOYMENT OPENINGS. (a) In this section, "occupational specialty |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | code" has the meaning assigned by Section 654.0375. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | (b) A state agency shall include on all forms and notices |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | related to a state agency employment opening the occupational |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | specialty codes, identified as provided by Section 654.0375, that |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | correspond to the employment opening if the duties of the available |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | position correlate with an occupational specialty assigned such a |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | code. |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | SECTION 3. Section 656.023, Government Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Sec. 656.023. JOB INFORMATION FORMS. (a) The commission |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | shall prescribe the forms for information from state agencies |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | necessary for the commission to serve as a central processing |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | agency for state agency job opportunities in Travis County. |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | (b) A form prescribed by the commission under Subsection (a) |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | must include space for a state agency to list an occupational |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | specialty code as provided by Section 656.002. |
|---|
| 52 | 52 | | SECTION 4. Section 656.002, Government Code, as added by |
|---|
| 53 | 53 | | this Act, applies only to a form or notice relating to an employment |
|---|
| 54 | 54 | | opening published or delivered on or after the effective date of |
|---|
| 55 | 55 | | this Act. A form or notice published or delivered before that date |
|---|
| 56 | 56 | | is governed by the law in effect on the date the form or notice was |
|---|
| 57 | 57 | | published or delivered, and the former law is continued in effect |
|---|
| 58 | 58 | | for that purpose. |
|---|
| 59 | 59 | | SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
