194 AN ACT
205 relating to the prohibition of more than one counsel appearing in a
216 misdemeanor case.
227 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
238 SECTION 1. Article 45.020(b), Code of Criminal Procedure,
249 is amended to read as follows:
2510 (b) [Not more than one counsel shall conduct either the
2611 prosecution or defense.] State's counsel may open and conclude the
2712 argument in the case.
2813 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2914 to a criminal proceeding that commences on or after the effective
3015 date of this Act. A criminal proceeding that commences before the
3116 effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the
3217 date the proceeding commences, and the former law is continued in
3318 effect for that purpose.
3419 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
