77 relating to the eligibility of Elite Rodeo Association World
88 Championships for funding from the Major Events trust fund.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Sections 5A(a)(4) and (5), Chapter 1507 (S.B.
1111 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article
1212 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), are amended to read as
1313 follows:
1414 (4) "Event" means a Super Bowl, a National Collegiate
1515 Athletic Association Final Four tournament game, the National
1616 Basketball Association All-Star Game, the X Games, the National
1717 Hockey League All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball All-Star
1818 Game, a game of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Bowl
1919 Championship Series or its successor or a National Collegiate
2020 Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision
2121 postseason playoff or championship game, a World Cup Soccer game,
2222 the World Games, an Elite Rodeo Association World Championship, a
2323 national collegiate championship of an amateur sport sanctioned by
2424 the national governing body of the sport that is recognized by the
2525 United States Olympic Committee, an Olympic activity, including a
2626 Junior or Senior activity, training program, or feeder program
2727 sanctioned by the United States Olympic Committee's Community
2828 Olympic Development Program, a mixed martial arts championship, the
2929 Breeders' Cup World Championships, a Formula One automobile race,
3030 the Academy of Country Music Awards, the National Cutting Horse
3131 Association Triple Crown, a national political convention of the
3232 Republican National Committee or the Democratic National
3333 Committee, or the largest event held each year at a sports
3434 entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
3535 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of not less
3636 than 125,000. The term includes any activities related to or
3737 associated with an event.
3838 (5) "Site selection organization" means:
3939 (A) the National Football League, the National
4040 Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball
4141 Association, the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, the
4242 Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the
4343 International World Games Association, the Elite Rodeo
4444 Association, or the United States Olympic Committee;
4545 (B) the national governing body of a sport that
4646 is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the National
4747 Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management Limited,
4848 or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile;
4949 (C) the Academy of Country Music;
5050 (D) the National Cutting Horse Association; or
5151 (E) the Republican National Committee or the
5252 Democratic National Committee.
5353 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
5454 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
5555 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
5656 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
5757 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
