| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Article 19.42, Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (a) Except as provided by Subsections [Subsection] (b) and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (c), information collected by the court, court personnel, or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | prosecuting attorney during the grand jury selection process about |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a person who serves as a grand juror, including the person's home |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | address, home telephone number, social security number, driver's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | license number, and other personal information, is confidential and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | may not be disclosed by the court, court personnel, or prosecuting |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | attorney. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (c) The court shall collect statistical information |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | regarding each grand juror's race, gender, and age. The |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | information collected under this subsection must be made available |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to the public in aggregate form by the court. Any identifying |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | information about a grand juror collected under this subsection |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | must be redacted before the disclosure of the statistical |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | information. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
