| 7 | 7 | | relating to the requirement that a parent appointed as a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | conservator of a child disclose certain information regarding |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | family violence. |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 153.076(b), Family Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (b) The court shall order that each conservator of a child |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | has the duty to inform the other conservator of the child if the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | conservator resides with for at least 30 days, marries, or intends |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to marry a person who the conservator knows: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) is registered as a sex offender under Chapter 62, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Code of Criminal Procedure; [or] |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) is currently charged with an offense for which on |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | conviction the person would be required to register under Chapter |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 62, Code of Criminal Procedure; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (3) is the subject of a protective order rendered |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | under Chapter 85 or a similar law of another state in which the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | person was found to have committed family violence; or |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (4) is currently charged with an offense involving |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | family violence for which a protective order may be rendered under |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Chapter 85 or a similar law of another state [that chapter]. |

| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | section, the changes in law made by this Act to Section 153.076(b), |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Family Code, apply only to a court order rendered on or after the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | effective date of this Act. A court order rendered before that date |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | is governed by the law in effect on the date the order was rendered, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (b) A person may bring a suit to modify a court order |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | rendered before September 1, 2015, under Section 153.076(b), Family |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Code, as amended by this Act. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
