66 AN ACT
77 relating to giving notice of certain information about an election
88 electronically.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 4.004, Election Code, is amended by
1111 amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (e) to read as
1212 follows:
1313 (a) The notice of a general or special election must state:
1414 (1) the nature and date of the election;
1515 (2) except as provided by Subsections [Subsection] (c)
1616 and (e), the location of each polling place;
1717 (3) the hours that the polls will be open; and
1818 (4) any other information required by other law.
1919 (e) If notice of an election is given by publishing the
2020 notice in a newspaper, the notice may provide the address of an
2121 Internet website that lists the location of each polling place
2222 instead of stating the location of each polling place.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
