| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Article 103.001, Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Art. 103.001. COSTS PAYABLE. A cost is not payable by the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | person charged with the cost until a written bill containing the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | items of cost is: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) produced; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) [or is ready to be produced, containing the items |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of cost,] signed by the officer who charged the cost or the officer |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | who is entitled to receive payment for the cost; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) provided to the person charged with the cost. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to a cost incurred on or after the effective date of this Act. A |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | cost incurred before the effective date of this Act is governed by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the law in effect on the date the cost was incurred, and the former |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
