55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to eligibility of certain school district employees for
88 certification as a principal.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 21.046, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1212 (e) A school district employee is entitled to obtain
1313 certification as a principal without complying with otherwise
1414 applicable requirements, including completion of a principal
1515 educator preparation program and successful performance on a
1616 certification examination, if the employee:
1717 (1) holds a master's degree from a university that is
1818 accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Texas Higher
1919 Education Coordinating Board; and
2020 (2) has at least 15 years of service with the same
2121 school district.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
