9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 21.046, Education Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (e) A school district employee is entitled to obtain | |
13 | 13 | certification as a principal without complying with otherwise | |
14 | 14 | applicable requirements, including completion of a principal | |
15 | 15 | educator preparation program and successful performance on a | |
16 | 16 | certification examination, if the employee: | |
17 | 17 | (1) holds a master's degree from a university that is | |
18 | 18 | accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Texas Higher | |
19 | 19 | Education Coordinating Board; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) has at least 15 years of service with the same | |
21 | 21 | school district. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
