55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the commission of family violence as grounds for an
88 annulment of a marriage.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 6, Family Code, is amended
1111 by adding Section 6.1101 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 6.1101. FAMILY VIOLENCE. The court may grant an
1313 annulment of a marriage to a party to the marriage if the court
1414 finds that the other party to the marriage has committed family
1515 violence, as defined by Section 71.004, against the party.
1616 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1717 marriage regardless of whether the marriage was entered into
1818 before, on, or after the effective date of this Act.
1919 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
