9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 6, Family Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | by adding Section 6.1101 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 6.1101. FAMILY VIOLENCE. The court may grant an | |
13 | 13 | annulment of a marriage to a party to the marriage if the court | |
14 | 14 | finds that the other party to the marriage has committed family | |
15 | 15 | violence, as defined by Section 71.004, against the party. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | |
17 | 17 | marriage regardless of whether the marriage was entered into | |
18 | 18 | before, on, or after the effective date of this Act. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
